Throughout 2005, our home page honored ABS employees for their excellent service and noteworthy accomplishments. During 2006, we’re continuing this tradition of recognizing our star employees. To kick off the new year, we’re saluting Mike Becker, an outside sales representative at ABS Arizona.
Darrel Wells, Arizona division manager, says, “Mike truly takes customer service to heart. He’ll drive two hours to deliver two boxes of fasteners to keep a customer’s manufacturing line going.”

A personal sales best.

Mike began his ABS career as a warehouseman in Indiana nearly 10 years ago. He applied himself to learning the fastener and hardware business and was elevated to an outside sales position. In August 2005, Mike set a personal sales best when he surpassed $100,000 for the month.
Darrel says, “Mike is very conscientious when it comes to taking care of—and following up with—his customers.”

Remember the Krispy Kremes.

Mike’s sales philosophy is simple: treat the customer with respect—and when you’re going to an early meeting, don’t forget to bring donuts.
In his free time, Mike is an avid golfer and he sports a nifty 2 handicap. In the summer, you’ll find Mike at the driving range two or three times a week and on the golf links during the weekends. He and his wife, Judy, also enjoy going to the movies.

Still grateful after all these years.

Six years ago, Mike suffered a spinal cord injury and he underwent an emergency operation that saved him from paralysis. During his recovery, he says he was treated “amazingly” by the people at ABS.
“I can’t tell you how much I appreciate everything that Jim (Hooper, ABS president) and Dave (Wallner, ABS general manager) did for me during that time,” he says. “They kept telling me, ‘Take all the time you need. We’ll take care of everything else.’”
