During 2006, we’re continuing to recognize ABS employees for their outstanding service and dedication. This time around we’re recognizing Gilberto Hernandez, warehouse supervisor, at ABS Texas.

Ernie Headlee, Texas division manager, says, “We call Gilberto ‘Mr. Dependable.’ He never gives the excuse that something can’t be done.”

Russ Follis, senior division manager, says, “I would take a hundred employees just like him. I’ve never heard the word ‘no’ to any request.”

Gilberto joined ABS as a driver in April 1999. He quickly moved into the warehouse and in 2003 he was promoted to warehouse supervisor. Since that time productivity has increased and the morale among warehouse employees has been enhanced.

A novel innovation that Gilberto introduced was rotating the duties of the warehouse staff. Gilberto explains, “This helps everyone stay fresh and all employees can overlap on any job.” For example, at any time, any employee can jump into one of the warehouse trucks and make a delivery.

“ABS is always adding new technology and implementing new ways to help the work flow,” Gilberto says. “That’s a big reason why I like working here so much.”

In his spare time, Gilberto enjoys spending time with his family and taking four-mile runs through the park.
